In an interview with the clubs official website, Danny Rose has revealed that he’d like to stay at Tottenham for a very long time, in the hope of following the footsteps of club legend Ledley King.
It’s been quite the adventure for Danny Rose at Tottenham, signing from Leeds United as a youth prospect in the summer of 2007. It wasn’t always this clear-cut for Rose though, and prior to Mauricio Pochettino’s arrival, he struggled to earn a place within the first team. He’d experienced a run of poor performances and many Spurs fans grew frustrated with him, with some even calling for him to be sold. It was Pochettino that stuck by him however, and he hasn’t looked back since.
Following a very successful campaign, Rose has spoken of how he’d love to spend the rest of his playing days at White Hart Lane. “I’m 26 now and starting to think about if I want to finish my career here and I’d love to do that,” said the Englishman. “There won’t be many players able to say that they’ve been at a club for x number of years.”
When Spurs fans think of a one club player, Ledley King is the first to come to mind. Rose has spoken of his admiration for the Tottenham legend, and how he hopes to one day follow in his footsteps. “Ledley is a legend. When you see him with the players, some will ask ‘what was he like?’ and there really are no words to describe how Ledley was as a player and as a man.”
“He was quiet, but a leader. I saw the pain he had to go through to be out there on a Saturday. You wouldn’t believe he’d missed most of the training sessions throughout the week and yet he’d be the best player on the pitch.”
“I’d love to be able to look back at the end of my career and think I’d been at a club for the whole of my career. That’s the plan. You don’t know what will happen in football but that’s the plan, I want to be here for a long, long time and I hope while I’m here I get to win trophies as well.”
It’s clear to see that Rose has a love and passion for Spurs and being only 26 years of age he has plenty of football ahead of him. Tottenham face Stoke City away from home in their next match, a fixture that Danny Rose is more than familiar with.
