Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has backed Spurs’ decision to sign French national team-mate Moussa Sissoko, insisting that the attacking midfielder has all the attributes to be a success at Tottenham. “He is very powerful and I think he is a different profile of player for us, so he will give us another option offensively,” Lloris told the club’s official website.
“The good thing is that he’s played in the Premier League for a while so he knows the competition well and he’s a high-level player because he’s played for the national team too.”
Having signed from Newcastle United on deadline day, Lloris is hopeful that Sissoko will be a fierce addition to Mauricio Pochettino’s high pressing side. “I think he’s the kind of player that can help the team to achieve good things and, for sure, he will adapt quickly to our philosophy and our style. I think it’s very good for Tottenham that he’s here.”
Following the completion of his transfer, Sissoko was keen to highlight the French captain’s influence on his decision to sign for the North London side. “I spoke with Hugo Lloris. He told me this club is amazing and everything is here for me to do well, play some good games and fight with the best teams in England.”
It appears that the Spurs skipper may be the key to getting Sissoko firing at Tottenham, captaining him for both club and country. Both are expected to feature in Spurs’ next fixture against a resilient Stoke City side.
