Tottenham Hotspur are set to table a €25M bid for Turkish international Hakan Çalhanoğlu, according to BILD.
Yet another day of transfer rumors surfacing from all across the world. This time, it is 22-year-old Hakan Çalhanoğlu to be linked to a move to the Lilywhites, as the Transfer Deadline Day edges ever closer. The Turkish international is one of many names to have been linked with a move to White Hart Lane in recent weeks but could prove needed at the club. Various reports saying Nabil Bentaleb’s loan move (with an option to buy) to Schalke is imminent along with Wolfsburg being linked to Korean international Heung-Min Son.
If Pochettino is to see these players go, it could see Çalhanoğlu, and possible one or two more, come in before August 31st. Çalhanoğlu, who recorded 21 goals and 22 assists in just 94 games whilst at Bayern Leverkusen, could be an important acquisition if Spurs are to let some midfielders go, and at €25M in the current market, it would not be such a bad deal, albeit a risk for Daniel Levy to take.
Çalhanoğlu is widely known for his ability to score and assist within his career and is dubbed to be one of the best free-kick takers in the world currently. If the transfer happens, you would expect to see him fight to cement his place and prove he has the ability to play in this promising Tottenham side that Pochettino is developing. It would be interesting to see if Levy is willing to take a gamble on someone like Çalhanoğlu.
