The Danish playmaker believes that new summer signing Vincent Janssen is “proper English” and can only better strike partner Harry Kane.
In a recent interview for the club’s official website, Christian Eriksen has hailed the ability of Tottenham’s new £18m man. Having impressed in his opening two Premier League appearances for the North London side, Eriksen feels Janssen’s impact at the club has been almost immediate. “Vincent, he’s something different – even though he’s from Holland, he’s proper English. It’s only the beginning for him, he wants to show everyone that he can play football and he’s done that.”
During Tottenham’s 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace, Mauricio Pochettino started Vincent Janssen alongside Spurs’ top scorer last season Harry Kane. It’s been heavily debated as to how the arrival of Janssen will affect the Englishman but Eriksen feels that they can only benefit each other.
“Vincent took some big hits for the team with all the hustle and bustle up front which I think made it a bit easier for Harry because normally it’s him that’s doing all the battling.” the Dane emphasised.
Next up Tottenham face a visit from Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side, and following Janssen’s impressive start to his Spurs career, Pochettino may feel inclined to start his new man for the second consecutive game. It’s a decision that won’t be taken lightly however, as Spurs starlet Dele Alli looks to regain his place within the starting line-up.
